- Growing up in small town Wisconsin and moving to Alaska immediately following college, I was ill prepared for life, but somehow I managed to get by. After reading (and writing) a few poems for a few years, I completed an MFA in poetry at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Years later, I discovered another tiny path nearly overgrown by thorny brambles: nursing. Thankfully I learned to look for the seemingly insignificant trails while young because these are the ones that lead to the prairie.
Hurrah! Steffanie is writing again! Great idea, Steffanie, and I look forward to reading it often.
